New Sign

We are pretty excited to announce the long waited arrival of our new sign. Its not that we didn’t love the old one but this 15 foot monster sign give the studio great visibility from Lyndon Lane. We also recently had a great master class with our owner Brian Barakauskas. We had 24 people show up for a turn technique and west coast swing intensive. The progress of the group was impressive! Now on to a busy time for DL. With dance events all over the midwest and our Summer Showcase June 7th its a great time to be dancing!!!

Oh man what a great day at Dance Louisville. This past Saturday we hosted Jim and Kelli Rainey to the studio. The come from Knoxville TN and came up for a day of West Coast Swing Group Classes. We had over 40 dancers attend the 3 workshops and over 60 attend the evening West Coast Swing dance. The dance studio was hopping! If you missed out then put this date on your calendar. April 13th. Its a Saturday and we are doing it again. This time the dance classes will be taught by Nelson Clarke. He is an old friend of mine and will be coming in all the way from Canada! Super excited to have in in Louisville Kentucky. Hope to see you all there!

UCWDC World Chamionships

Hey gang….
This is a bit of a late blog post consider we have been home for almost a month. During the first week of January DL traveled to Nashville TN for a week to compete in the UCWDC country dance world championships. Here is a quick rundown of the results. Brenda finished first in her syllabus division. Its a developmental division designed to get people started competing on a higher level and brenda came home the winner! Our 3 top girls placed very very well in hotly contested divisions. In the Intermediate Diamond Tracy took 4th and in the crystal she took 3rd. Just ahead of her in intermediate crystal was Erin. Erin also finished 4th in the open division. Megan was our only dancer competing in the advanced division and came home with a solid 3rd place. Over all our studio made quite a stir and provided some solid performances. Personally I am very proud of all the hard work they have put in over the 2012 dance season….

Winter Showcase

Well the first ever Winter version of our showcase is in the books. We had a turnout of close to 150 for the event hosted at the Galt House in Downtown Louisville. It was the first showcase that we hosted in a hotel. The venue was fantastic with plenty of space for our dancers. We had 25 dancer performances which in clouded west coast swing, waltz, foxtrot, east coast swing, cha cha and more…. Our Swing and Salsa teams where probably the best we have had so far. The dancers worked hard on their performances for the past 8 weeks and make their teachers proud. Keep posted for the early summer showcase hopefully in June and then again next winter in December.
Happy Holidays,
Dance Louisville
